The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CCIBDN) is a national collaborative of physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing care for children with IBD. With Canada reporting one of the highest rates of pediatric IBD globally, CCIBDN is committed to innovation through research, education, and clinical excellence.
Funded by The CH.I.L.D. Foundation, CCIBDN fosters multi-stakeholder collaboration to enhance outcomes and improve quality of life for children with IBD.

Dr. Eileen Crowley, MD, MSc, MRCPI

Dr. Eileen Crowley is an Assistant Professor at the Schulich School of Medicine, University of Western Ontario and a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and Clinician Researcher at the Children’s Hospital Western Ontario (CHWO) . She leads the Pediatric IBD Centre at CHWO, co-founded the #GETSET Transition Program and co-leads the Pediatric Centre for Clinical Research at CHWO. Her clinical and research work focuses on precision medicine, therapeutic drug monitoring, and improving care delivery for children with IBD and currently serves as Co-Chair of the CCIBDN.


Dr. Eric Benchimol, MD, PhD, FRCPC

Dr. Eric Benchimol is a Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the University of Toronto, Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and Senior Scientist at ICES. A leader in pediatric IBD research, he is internationally recognized for his work in population health, real-world evidence, and health services research. Dr. Benchimol is the founding Chair of the Canadian Gastrointestinal Epidemiology Consortium (CanGIEC) and co-chairs the RECORD statement for reporting health data studies. He holds the Northbridge Chair in IBD at SickKids and currently serves as Co-Chair of the CCIBDN.

Dr. Sally Lawrence is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Hudson Scholar at the University of British Columbia, an Investigator at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and is the Clinical Director of the Pediatric IBD program at BC Children’s Hospital. Her work in IBD is focusing on the development of a Pediatric IBD Centre of Excellence, assessing the impacts of additive free diets in IBD and on transition education. She has recently been elected as Co-Chair Elect of the CCIDBN.

Dr. David Mack is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa, Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and Senior Scientist at the CHEO Research Institute. Dr. Mack is internationally recognized for his work in IBD pathogenesis, microbiome research, and translational science, with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children affected by IBD and was founding member and former Co-Chair of CCIBDN.


Dr. Bruce Vallance, PhD

Investigator, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute
Dr. Bruce Vallance is a renowned mucosal immunologist and Professor at the University of British Columbia, where his research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying pediatric IBD. As an investigator at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Dr. Vallance leads several national initiatives aimed at identifying novel therapeutic targets and developing precision medicine strategies. His leadership within CIDsCaNN reflects his dedication to advancing evidence-based, patient-centered care for children living with IBD.
